The RISM Central Office has organised the RISM catalogues into four series.

A/I : printed music in scores or part-books each devoted to a single composer.
At present available in book form only, but due to be converted to electronic form shortly.
A/II - manuscript music, 1600-1800.
The present database contains data on the majority of UK manuscripts, together with some Dublin manuscripts. An international RISM database is available on subscription via www.nisc.com. The UK and Ireland dataset is not yet listed in the subscription database, and will be added to it once the latter has been upgraded, after which the free-to-access UK database will be maintained in parallel.
B : catalogues of various self-contained groups of material.
Available in book form.
C : a directory of music research libraries.
Available in book form. A list of libraries and their sigla may be downloaded from the RISM Central Office website (PDF, 1.19MB).
